Frederick Tyler was ‘formerly on the clerical staff of the outdoor assistant’s office, Chief Goods Managers Department, Midland Railway, Derby’, and was a son of Major Tyler, formerly at the Normanton Barracks. According to the newspaper report, he was killed by shellfire on the 15th December 1915.

Frederick Tyler was a 21 year old railway clerk, residing at Normanton Barracks. He was the son of Captain Tyler and Caroline Tyler.
